Alma Mater Europaea - Dance Academy is Slovenia’s only higher education institution with an accredited study program in Dance and Choreography. It is also Europe’s only accredited Social Dance program, therefore it fundamentally contributes to the development of creativity

and education in the Slovenian legacy of dance.

AMEU - Academy of Dance is strengthening its position in the field of contemporary dance, social dance, competitive dance, jazz dance and classical ballet in domestic and international artistic, pedagogical, competitive and research space. With active involvement in the environment, it is significantly enriching and co-shaping Slovenian, European and worldwide cultural and artistic space.

All classes at Alma Mater begin in October, but exact dates vary by study program.

Yes. Attendance at lectures is mandatory for Alma Mater students.

Classes at Dance Academy are conducted in English language.

The Bachelor's Degree of Dance Academy are full time on campus programs.

The study program of the Dance Academy covers the entire artistic and practical knowledge in the field of dance - from classical to modern disciplines.

It encourages the achievement of personal goals, development of character and recognition of artistic responsibility.

The modern nature of the program becomes pronounced in its practical orientation, which offers the artistic form of dance, through various social and educational experiences.

It develops communication skills and critical thinking, capacities for research and analysis, as well as the creative productivity in any field of dance.

The degree obtained upon completion of the program is a Graduated dancer / Choreographer.

Every semester we organize performances where students can showcase their progress.

Yes. The tuition fee can be paid in one, two, or five installments. In the case of installment payments, an administrative fee of €20 is added to each installment. No interests are applied.

In addition to the tuition fee, students must pay an admission fee of €100 for each academic year and a one-time fee of €50 for the issuance of the Record Book of Knowledge and Competences.

The students need to attend the lessons in person in Ljubljana and the housing costs are not covered in the tuition fee.

A professional dancer or choreographer is typically self-employed. The professional and practical knowledge acquired during the course of study, along with networking with dance and educational institutions, as well as individuals, can open opportunities both locally and abroad. Dancers and choreographers create and work in:

  • Theaters
  • Dance groups
  • Studios
  • Institutions
  • Schools
  • Societies and clubs

This profession is dynamic and involves collaboration with many co-creators or students. Graduates also have the opportunity to continue their studies by enrolling in a master’s program at our Dance Academy or other programs in Slovenia or abroad.

Enrolment to the Dance Academy is available to all who have:

  • Obtained a matura, vocational matura, or an equivalent high school diploma.
  • Hold a medical certificate issued by an expert medical practitioner
  • Passed the dance audition in Contemporary dance, Jazz, Competitive Ballroom and Latin dance, Social dance and Urban / Hip Hop
  • English B2 proficiency
  • Attended a high school of ballet or another adequate ballet education (only for the ballet program)
